A long, gentle canyon walk, with a short side trail to the Boynton vortex.
Boynton Canyon Trail (No. 47) runs about 6 miles out and back, according to the Forest Service, with roughly 900 feet of gain. It's rated moderate. The first stretch skirts a resort, then the trail drops into a quieter, shadier canyon.
A short spur near the start leads up to a rock knoll known as the Boynton Canyon vortex, with views over the canyon mouth.
